Barney Liddell (my father), was the senior member of the Lawrence Welk Orchestra. Dad joined in 1948and stayed throughout the entire TV run, until the last weekly show was taped in February of 1982. Dad passed away on May 5, 2003, and now, I carry on his musical legacy. I would enjoy hearing from anyone who knew my father. Terrence Liddell brassman7c@live.com
This is a picture blog, in which as months and years go by, will be filled with numerous pictures of Lawrence Welk, his musical family, scenes from his long-running variety show and a few behind-the-scenes rare gems as well.
Enjoy your trip down memory lane and don't forget to turn off the bubble machine when you're done!
The blogmeister is also the webmaster behind the very successful Welk Musical Family.com. I have been a fan of Lawrence Welk since I was a youngster (not too long ago!) and have watched (and taped) his show every Saturday night on my local PBS station, WGTE and sometimes WBGU. My hometown and current residence is Toledo, Ohio and in recent years, I have attended many of their live concerts and had the chance to meet many of the wunnerful music makers as well.
